Pageant Character Information

We have put together this page to help parents and carers on what’s expected of the characters during the run up to The Pageant as well as during The Pageant itself.

Rehearsals

In the two weeks prior to The Pageant there will be a number of rehearsals so that everyone involved is comfortable with what’s required during The Pageant.

The schedule for this years Pageant rehearsal is set out below:

Tuesday 21st May, 6pm at the Old Academy, Marjoribanks Street: All Principal Characters plus the Royal Guard and Bower Girls.

Thursday 23rd May, 6pm at the Old Academy, Marjoribanks Street: All Principal Characters plus the Royal Guard and Bower Girls.

Monday 27th May, 6pm at the Old Academy, Marjoribanks Street: All Principal Characters plus the Royal Guard, Bower Girls, Flower Girls and Rainbow Girls.

Thursday 30th May, 6pm at the Old Academy, Marjoribanks Street: All Principal Characters plus the Royal Guard, Bower Girls, Flower Girls and Rainbow Girls.

Thursday 30th May, 7pm at the Bathgate Parish Church, Gideon Street: Robert The Bruce, Princess Marjorie, Walter Lord High Steward, Heralds, Keeper of The Keys, Abbot of Holyrood, Ladies in Waiting, Lord Lyon and the Earl of Moray.

Character Attire

Robert The Bruce – Costume is provided by the committee.

Princess Marjorie – Please provide a long white dress. The committee will provide two Capes (one for rehearsals and one for The Pageant).

Walter Lord High Steward – Please provide black trousers and black shoes. The costume will be provided by the committee.

Page Boys – Please provide black trousers, black t-shirt and black shoes. The costume will be provided by the committee.

Ladies in Waiting – Please provide a long coloured dress.

Rainbow and Flower Queens – Please provide a long white dress. Capes and baskets of flowers will be provided by the committee.

Lady of The Court – Please provide a long white dress. Capes and baskets of flowers will be provided by the committee.

Heralds, Keeper of The Keys and Abbot of Holyrood – Please provide black trousers and black shoes. The costumes will be provided by the committee.

Lord Lyon and Earl of Moray – Please provide black trousers. The costumes will be provided by the committee.

Captain of The Guard – Please provide full Highland Dress (Royal Stewart if possible).

Bower Girls – Please provide a long dress and posy of flowers.

Royal Guard – Please provide a white school shirt, black trousers, black shoes. The Committee will provide tartan plaids these will be handed out after the third rehearsal. Weapons will be handed out on Procession morning.

Flower and Rainbow Girls – Please provide a pastel coloured dress, cardigan and posy of flowers. Waterproof capes will be provided on Procession morning by the committee.
